FRUITION
Align is the University of Oregon’s fashion, art & culture magazine. We pride ourselves on offering a creative community where students bond over their shared passions, create together and publish their work. If you’re looking to build your creative community, we hire prior to every term.
winter ’26 theme: offbeat
“Offbeat”
1. unconventional; eccentric; unusual
2. not coinciding with the beat
Offbeat encompasses the iconoclastic gestures of youth, art and subcultures; where intentional subversion is needed to deal with a rapidly unpredictable world. A back-alley speakeasy. A syncopating jazz lick. A resort fashion show in a New York subway station. Finding peace in turbulence. Rejecting, reworking, annulling the mainstream…
Align invites you to take an idea and turn it on its head. Think: Melody & dissonance, counterculture, fringe/underground, resilience, discordant rhythms, novelty, DIY ethos, noise, texture, music & art history, New Wave, punk, grunge, avant-garde, “jazziness,” maximalism, anti-establishment, kaleidoscopes, cultural defiance, black sheep, personal niches, improvisation, Nan Goldin, Keith Haring, Grace Jones, experimentation, messy artistry
