A Deadly Darling Halloween

It's a spooky season and everyone is coming out to play. From devils and angels, Maddy and Cassie, Velma and Daphne, to Jenna Rink’s iconic 80’s party dress and Andie Anderson’s alluring yellow slip gown. If there is one thing about our generation, we know how to do Halloween.

But let me tell you about possibly one of the best costumes of this year. Enter: Deadly Darling.

Now you probably already know about the psychological thriller that is Don’t Worry Darling (or at least you know about the bts drama). Although the movie was deemed as inscrutable, Florence Pugh's star-studded (Midsommer-like) performance saved the film itself. And it’s because of the progression from her picture-perfect housewife persona to her completely unhinged alter ego that makes it all worth it. This costume is simplistic yet cynical with a bit of sexy. There's no doubt about it, it's a head-turner. It’s understated, and it's already trending.

Here’s how to achieve the Florence Pugh Deadly Darling look:

All you need is a white maxi dress, a 90’s blowout, your favorite pair of heels and some fake blood:

To prepare the day before, start by staining your white maxi dress in fake blood only in the stomach area and use a paintbrush to flick some blood above the area and down the skirt as well …it adds to the “deadly” aspect!

The next day, curl your hair— just enough to give it the ‘American Sweetheart’ type of volume. Tease around the crown of the head (after all this is the 1950’s, or is it?), create a half-up -do with the hair around the crown of the head and finish off with a black bow. This will tie the hairdo together and make it scream “darling I’m a nightmare dressed like a daydream.” Then do your regular makeup routine, but here’s the catch, smear the mascara to add to the disheveled effect. Throw on your favorite dainty earrings, your blood-stained dress, and a simple pair of heels. Finally, fluff your hair, tug one sleeve down and get ready to be the talk of the party.
